Nicaragua is a world apart from the life we know but easy to access and closer than you think! For your journey to Soma you will fly into the international Airport(MGA) located in the capital city of Managua. It is now host to many international carriers including, American, Delta, United, Continental,Taca and more all with hubs in most major metropolitan American cities.
If you have scheduled for us to pick you up at MGA, your driver will be waiting just outside the sliding glass doors with a sign that says “Soma Surf Resort”. The drive to the Soma is a fun adventure in itself and takes 2 1/2 hours. Sit back and relax…it will be a memorable journey. You will quickly leave the busy streets of Managua and enter the smaller towns outside the capital, passing through little pueblos, farmlands, villages, markets, roadside craft and furniture stands, people walking, children going to school, and entire families on bicycles and motos. Once you leave the Pan American highway you will enter a dirt road for about an hour. Here is where your sense of adventure really kicks in, as you will cross rivers, see many locals on horseback, and most likely be stuck in a traffic jam…that is a traffic jam of cattle! Just be patient and enjoy the experience…they eventually will make a path and let your car through.
Rates: 1-3 People – $130/ a group of 4 – $160 one way
All major car rental companies are represented at MGA. Due to road conditions in the Pacific Coast beach areas, soma recommends reserving a 4x4 vehicle. Quantities are limited, so it is best to reserve prior to your trip.
