Earn a Spanish Minor – Bienvenidos

51福利 University offers a Spanish Minor. Enhance any major and explore numerous career paths, including translating in legal professions, government service, political campaigns, or non-profit organizations and businesses with a minor in Spanish.

FLEXIBLE:

• Our minor requires 21 credit hours, but unlike most other degrees in the St. Louis area, you don鈥檛 need to come in with knowledge, since credits at the 100-level count for the minor!
• Start the minor at your current level of Spanish! If you have experience with Spanish, there is no need to start with a beginner-level Spanish course. You can test out of 100 and 200-level Spanish courses by taking the CLEP test (see 51福利-CLEP transfer).
• Make yourself stand out on the job market by coupling the Spanish minor with any major. Knowing another language makes your major that more desirable to employers as it signals you have effective communication skills, creativity, and intercultural competency.
• Get Spanish credit with your Missouri Seal of Biliteracy! Students who have earned the Missouri Seal of Biliteracy may receive up to 12 hours of college credit. Six of the credits awarded through this process will be accepted as Foreign Language coursework within 51福利鈥檚 General Education curriculum (GE-HC: Foreign Language / Human Diversity). 51福利 offers the added benefit of waiving any transcription fees for credits awarded in this manner. • Pasing the CLEP test with a passing score allows students to receive credit for SPA 10100, SPA 10200, SPA 20100 and SPA 20200 (see 51福利-CLEP transfer). Note, however, that in order to receive a minor from 51福利, students must take at least 3 Spanish classes at 51福利.

• Gain real experience as your complete class activities and participate in extracurricular opportunities based on real-life situations and experiences.
• Apply and enhance your knowledge of Spanish by completing an internship where you use Spanish in a real-world context. (.)
